The Bogside Derry was originally under the River Foyle as it flowed around the Hill of Derry. It eventually became a stream, Mary Blue's Burn which flowed in the line of Rossville Street. The area on this western side of the hill became known as the Bogside.
The Bogside was a flashpoint for the civil rights movement and The Troubles which are documented by the open air gallery of murals of the Bogside Artists.
